!! Chicken Roll - Kolkata Style !!



I think  most of us r sometimes  in a dilemma for what can be d best menu for evening snacks..Mainly those who belong to Kolkata r in a habit of having a good tea time evening snacks..As we all know the best attraction for all of us is the “Street Side “ foods..& the popular among them r chop, cutlet, samosa(singara), rolls,jalebi,jhal muri etc..But how is the idea if we can make those mouth watering snacks in our own kitchen..
So my first recipe is the Chicken Roll –which is one of d most tempting for all” street-side” food lovers..There r many restaurants in Kolkata that serves it best..From college going youth to uncle & aunties..just love  this type of “Roll”.
 If, like me u r also away from home..& want to get d flavors of Kolkata…u may try this recipe of mine..& surprise everyone...
I have seen a lot of recipes for Chicken Roll..but I tried with my own style..& u r free to put any suggestions..!!


         Chicken Roll

Ingredients: 
Maida -2 cups ; white  oil ; small cubes of boneless chicken-150 gms ; 1 onion diced (1/2 inch) ;1 capsicum diced(1/2 inch) ; green chillies shredded ; ginger paste(1/2 tsp) ; cumin powder ; soya sauce ; chilli sauce ; tomato ketchup ; baking powder  ; lime juice or vinegar ; salt ; black pepper powder & sugar.
Procedure :
1)        Marinate chicken pieces with lime juice / vinegar for about an hour.
2)        For filling :- Put oil in a frying pan , add onion pieces and fry till golden brown.Then add capsicum pieces,green chillies ,add ½ tsp of ginger paste, marinated chicken pieces, and cook till the chicken becomes tender..To it add the three types of sauces one by one sprinkling salt as needed..and  keep aside..
3)        Knead  soft dough with maida (2 cups), 2 tsp of white oil , pinch of salt, ½ tsp baking powder , sugar and required amount of water and keep in covered container for 5 mins..
4)       Divide the dough into large equal balls and roll the balls into flat & round to make golden brown spotted parathas..
5)        Now put the filling into the parathas and sprinkle a few drops of lime juice ,raw onion slices, pinch of salt & pepper  and then roll the parathas with the filling..
6)       Wrap the lower portion of the roll with a paper / tissue..and the chicken roll is ready to serve.. :-)
